Tom Hunter
Tom Hunter was born in Bournemouth in 1965 he is a London-based artist that works in photography and film. I am focusing on the light work he has used in his photographs, especially the ones above.
His work has really specialised in Hackney, the photographs he has taken focus on the local issues. For example the top right photograph looks like a women reading a letter - this is called 'Woman Reading a Possession Order'
The light in this particular photograph (Women Reading a Possession Order) is natural light coming from the window during the day, however the way the light has focused on her face and the paper she is holding shows it's highlighting the key features of the photograph.
By looking at this photograph you can see a story. For example the women in the photograph doesn't look particularly happy, you can see she is a mother also that she isn't wealthy by looking at the background - it's quite bare no personal belongings around. This is my favourite photograph out of the four above because the light has 'lit' up the important pieces.
The bottom right photo is similar to look like a painting, especially because of how dark the contrast is, also you don't clearly see the people's faces which can make it much easier to paint. I particularly think it can be a painting because of the trees and grass as well as the sunset in the background.
