Still Life - Jenny Van Sommers
Jenny Van Sommers is an award winning still life photographer. I really like her work, these four photo's are my favourite of hers. In every still life photograph of hers the background is always blank. I think she does this to bring people's attention to the objects in the image. The colours are always very vibrant. I love what she takes pictures of - they're very random and quirky.
I chose these images because they're going to relate to how I take my pictures - to capture a person's personality in the photographs. for example, the top left photograph can say that someone's personality likes things to be clean - hence all the sponges. In every photograph here it's clear to see everything - the lighting is very bright. I can tell in which direction the lighting is coming from in the top right photograph ( right) - because of the shadow of the cone.
I believe this photographer is going to relate to my work the most. I was also thinking of a simple blank canvas to take my photographs on. The objects I shall choose will relate to the people's personalities I chosen. I don't believe that the photographer has used photoshop here. However, the lighting isn't natural - it has been put there purposely to capture the best image. Composition in these photograph's is very simple - the objects are always in the middle of the photo and instead of spreading out it goes upwards.
