Kristina Drobny Bond
She was born in 1980 on January 30th in her early years of life she was interested in writing stories and drawing pictures, however it wasn’t a talent she succeeded in. Once she reached High School she picked up her first camera. This was when she managed to translate stories into visual imagery. Kristina took to photographing people to create her own stories.
In 2002 she graduated from Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, she then went College of Art and Design in Savannah and graduated in 2005 with a Masters of Fine Arts. I really like Kristina’s work because of how she tells her stories in the photo’s some photographs are really obvious such as the drummer – he obviously has talent as he holds 3 drum sticks in each hand. However in others it’s quite complicated – such as the right top image it shows the women trying to survive an apocalypse as she has tins of food and bottles of water.
The main photo I enjoy is the one in the top left corner, this is a women who is opening hundreds of fortune cookies. The reason I like this because it shows her story as a person who is trying to find the perfect fortune for herself that she likes. Even though it is possible to change your own future this women is leaving it to the fortune cookies. I also like this photograph because there on the table is more fortune cookies to be opened – but she also has loads of wrappers of them next to her. The women looks really worried as she continues to open the fortune cookies so it’s obvious she hasn’t found the one for her. By her outfit it shows she looks a bit like a hippy – this could be a reason why she thinks that finding the perfect fortune cookie can change her life.
